Introduction

Directorate of Tourist Services, working under the Culture, Tourism, Antiquities & Archives Department, Government of Sindh, is a regulatory department for various establishments providing tourism service i.e. Hotels, Restaurants, Travel Agencies and Tour Guides. It was transferred to Tourism Department, Government of Sindh on 31st March, 2011 under 18th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2010. Before devolution, the Department of Tourist Services was the attached Department under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad and its Regional Office Karachi was established on 19.12.1977.

Function

The function of this Directorate is to implement following acts:

• The Pakistan Hotels and Restaurants Act, 1976 for providing measures for controlling and regulating the standards of service and amenities for tourists in hotel and restaurant;

• The Travel Agencies Act, 1976 for providing the development, regulation and control of the profession of travel agencies

• The Sindh Tourist Guide Act, 2011
